Leave it to men to concoct an event such as Burgerpalooza. Husband and fire friends are off on a 48-hour expedition to find the best burger in the state. The state plus Cour d'Alene. It all started with the beloved Smokey's in our hometown. Too much hype led another to claim the best burger lived 6 hours away in Cour d'Alene, Idaho. And so the quest was born.
Here's the plan, if you can hang...a total of 8 burger stops (yes, 8), 4 each day, starting at 1030am. The trip will take place in an RV complete with pony keg. Day one will start in Fife, visiting Roslyn and Spokane to end in Cour d'Alene. Day 2 will include Ritzville, Cashmere and Issaquah before heading home to a Smokey burger.
Many of the stops are long standing establishments, though some big contenders are being missed, such as Dick's Seattle and Wally's in Buckley. No comment on the required stop for Zips...since when are chains included in such a hunt? Surprised a Big Mac and Whopper aren't also required eating.
There has been much talk and consideration of the necessary condiments, judging factors and IF an accompanying milkshake should be part of the trek - as we all know the mom & pop burger joints tend to have the best shakes too. (Tack on another 1000 calories per stop.)
One wonders how long before any of these guys touch another burger...the thought gives me a tummy ache.

Okay, that is one of funniest things I have heard of.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...that got me to thinking. Don't you think that us girls should have a "SPA-Palooza"?
I am just curious what establishment it is in Fife they begin their Burgerpalooza at?
P.S. I love the pictures of the 500-hit drawing winner.
