THANKS BURIEN!

Every year the small town, that I consider my old stomping grounds, holds a Kid's Day sponsored by the Fire Department. I might be a tad biased since it's where Husband works, but I love Kid's Day. Various companies and organizations, such as Highline Water District, Trader Joe's, Emerald City Smoothie and the local police show up to contribute to the party.

Most years, I've had the opportunity to volunteer my time to this cause, but this year, with all the kids' scheduling, I sincerely lost track of time and it snuck up on me. This was the first year I got a chance to play instead of work, and more importantly, both my kids were old enough to enjoy the festivities.

Kid's Day is a city sponsored, FREE, event. From a hot dog lunch, fire department demonstrations and toy giveaways, to meeting the Mariner Moose, learning about fire safety and plyaing in the bounce house, my kids had a blast! They had pockets filled with candy, blue cotton-candy colored tongues and each won a fabulous doorproze sponsored by Tri-Med Ambulance. Did I mention it was all FREE? (Mark your calendars for next September!)

Who are we kidding? It was a beautiful, perfect sunny day, not less than about 76 degrees. I had a great time getting the rare opportunity to watch Husband in action and in uniform and playing dress up with my sis in the bunker gear.

We are so appreciative for all the sponsors who made the day great. Thanks Burien!

  1. Uncle Jeremy is seriously going to hear about it for not telling us about this. My boys have been begging him to see the fire station for like a year. There will be hell to pay!

  2. Oh no Sara, I'm sorry. Any time Ryan's working though, you can give a call and arrange to come by. Ryan and Jeremy are on the same shift anyhow.
