WAITING

I have been working on my new master bedroom for about a month now and it's still not finished. The bulk of the work is done, but the major finishing touch, the headboard, is holding things up.

The tough part about ordering fabric online is not being able to really see it. The first yellow velvet came in the mail about 2 weeks ago and when seen in the harsh light of the day, took on a dingy lime shade. I hated it. It's too big a focal point to settle on less than what I really want. So I'm waiting for another fabric to replace it. Fingers crossed the yellow is warmer and more true.

I remind myself that as an anniversary gift, it's not necessary to be completed until April, but when you get so much done and make so much quick progress, it's hard not to be antsy.

In addition to the headboard, I'm still struggling with some kind of wall art. I'm tempted to paint my own. But of what? It seems so important, but when I think about it, it wouldn't be difficult to change. Nothing is permanent.

For those interested, here's a sneak peak of our progress. I will post complete before and after pics once the room is indeed completed.Existing dresser, hamper, mirrored side table and lamp (Target clearance $40). Mirror is a dumpster find (FREE). Chair is a Target clearance find ($20). My husband gets on my case about snagging discounted finds when I run across them, but it sure pays off in the long run. The items found have been in our house in some form for the past few years. It's so satisfying that they finally have a place to be. Also satisfying is that my esthetic hasn't changed too drastically.
