After a long, cold, wet spring, our summer is finally here. This is the summer we dream about. The kind of days romanticized in novels and movies. The kind we remember as kids and hope to let our kids know. Bright blue skies from dawn til dusk. Cottonwood peppers the grass and flies through the air as if we are experiencing a first snow. Heat in the upper 80's. Otter pops and juice boxes til heart's content. An ever-full kiddie pool and endless hours spent outside. Late nights trying to sleep in t-shirts and open windows.
Today the weather is predicted to be record-breaking and at 730am, we are already outside enjoying 70 degree temps in tanks and shorts. My son is climbing the jungle gym, sis is watering plants and finding buttercups.
Oh to be a kid again with the discovery of simple delights. Maybe the sappiness is coming from my massive mellow-out session over the weekend, or maybe a result of these incredible days. Whatever it is, I'm feeling bliss.
