MUSIC NOTE: PILLOW ARMY

Of course I'm going to support the endeavors of my friends. It's just so much easier to do when they are actually really good at it. Such is the case of Pillow Army.

My great friend plays drums for Pillow Army and obviously encouraged me to have a listen. I've been endorsing this band ever since.

At their most recent gig in Fremont's High Dive, they upped their game for their album release. Something about the vocals combined with the 6-piece band, which includes cello and violin, really works. You might think that I'd hype anything my friends do, but such is not the case. Just ask him how I felt about his previous bands work. Truthfully, I think you will like this band. I've even heard surprise and delight that the band sounds better live than on record. That's a great accomplishment in itself and, if you ask me, a sign that they're destined for much greater.

Try their lead single, 'Happy', for an upbeat feel-good sample of what they offer. And spin 'You're Not Here Anymore' a couple times and you'll soon be singing along. From the lyrics to the poster graphics, this band rocks and will have you itching to hear what they come up with next.

You can check them out online and get a copy of their first album here. Get a copy and support local musicians. You'll be glad you did.
