It's starting. Summer is gone and with it, the nice weather. My kids are already bouncing off the walls. I could take them outside, wrapped in layers and rain gear. I could. But that means I also have to be wrapped in layers. And rain gear.
When was the last time you saran wrapped your kid for a "fun" fall afternoon? Did it take you nearly 20 min? Did you get 20 min outside before the kids decided a) it's not fun, or b) they have to go potty after all?
I've tried the indoor movie days, only to be met with boredom induced whining. I run out of things to do after coloring (20min), hide-n-seek (30min), Tinker Toys (40min) and helping to clean the house (6min...might be losing them on that one).
I'm a little nervous about the transition as the weather only continues to get worse. As the kids are getting older and more physically active, they are not easily pacified with indoor activities. Particularly Daughter who needs to be ran at least once a day. You think I'm kidding.
Got any great "rainy day" ideas I can use? I'm getting desperate. And Fall just started.
Hide and Seek, you can run her around the living room, front room, and kitchen can't you? I have a friend that lets her daughter ride her bike in the garage when it is rainy, do you have enough room? Building a fort or tent with couch cushions and sheets. Get a huge box to decorate/play in like a fort/plane/car. Play zoo and let them be animals them feed them appropriately - bananas for monkeys, peanuts for elephants, etc. A simple scavenger hunt with pictures instead of words. I just found a great PDF about play check it out - http://www.nhs.uk/change4life/Documents/pdf/297553_play4Life_indoor_acc2.pdf
