I just got a new camera. I'm stoked! I feel like a teenager with the keys to a new car. There's a whole new world to explore and I just got the tools to do it! I can't remember the last time I was so excited and absorbed in something new.
My old Canon PowerShot was a sturdy workhorse of a thing, but it simply lacked the "next steps" I was ready to take, photographically speaking. I was tired of the 4x zoom limitations and the grainy low-light shots. I found myself often considering the lesser of 2 evils between grainy darkness and washed out over-flashed faces.
Enter, my new baby, a photo/video hybrid with 20x zoom and ISO to dream about. At least in comparison to my obsolete 4-year-old starter. It's not a full-on DSLR, at least when talking about needing multiple lenses and a cool grand in your pocket. But it does hold it's own (at least that's what all the glowing reviews implied).
The thing about this wonderful new toy is that it has an immense amount of options. It touts the ability to manually set shooting speeds, ISO, f-stops and the whole kit-n-kaboodle, but that's a hefty manual to read. Not to mention all the hands-on trouble shooting required to find what works with my own low-light situations and need for lighting fast shutter speeds. It's overwhelming. But in a good way.
If any of you recreational photography-types (or PROS...) wanna hit me up with some tips, valuable websites, or personal advice, I would be your grateful subject.
I know there are some amazing pictures to be had in there somewhere. I know it.
