FOR THE LOVE OF CUPCAKES

Who doesn't love cupcakes? The image conjures childhood delight and they feel so much less sinful in their delicate size.

I got to check out the new cupcake shop in downtown Sumner today. Indulge Cupcakes just opened up at their Sumner location in October. Located in a small quaint home on Main Street, their shop is cozy and inviting, with sofas and kid-friendly television. The perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth and grab a cup of joe with friends.The cupcakes themselves are beautiful and almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The hardest part is deciding which flavor to get. I was torn between the Lemon and the Mint Chocolate. Also in the running was the Cinnamon, but I'd tried that before. Based on a friends' recommendation, I went with the Coconut and it did not disappoint. Disregard the fact that many are iced inches taller than the cake themselves. I wouldn't even bother inquiring about nutritional facts. If you're gonna do it, go all the way.

The coolest thing about Indulge is how welcoming and kind the operators are. A handful of screeching kids in a small living space would be enough to put anyone on edge, but the staff was all smiles and actually seemed to enjoy the family-feel of our group meeting there. And that's saying a lot. As a mom, you know when and where you are welcome and small environments aren't always up to the challenge of kids ping-ponging around the place.

My boy enjoyed his mini-cake with all the joy you would expect. We'll be back.
