WORTH THE EFFORT

I could not believe it when I checked on my compost and found that I had a wheelbarrow of fresh clean turned dirt. It wasn't even 2 months ago when I built my compost box, and here I am finding fresh earthy soil ready to assist my veggie starts.

As I marvelled over my accomplished dirt, I couldn't ignore the amazing aroma coming off this compost. A faint citrusy, garlic smell with coffee ground undertones made for a very aromatic gardening afternoon.

Ok, you're thinking I'm weird. But my household food scraps have created a nutrient-rich soil to better grow my veggies. I made something from nothing. And, contrary to what so many thing, it doesn't stink. In fact, it smells amazing! It's like gardening has become aromatherapy and physical therapy rolled into one.
