WORTH MORE THAN A THOUSAND WORDS

Ok, so you know the saying, that a picture's worth a thousand words. But how about some cold hard cash? I've been seeking out photo contests, because, why not? I'm not a pro, but I would love to be. I'm not that experienced, but I'm gaining. Plus, if everyone says I take a great picture, they can't all be wrong can they?

Photo contests seem to be the new wave of easy entry 'contesting' that doesn't require cost, or degree for making entries. Every magazine and website seems to have their own reason for photo contests, and many offer some great prizes.

Most recently, Organic Gardening offered a photo contest and early entrants were given a free subscription, winners or not. Rachael Ray Magazine is giving away FREE point & shoot digitals to it's monthly winners, and my current favorite is the Smithsonian, offering 5 catagories and giving $500 for first place winners, and $500 for fan favorite.

So, it may be a long shot, but it helps me know that all my picture taking could amount to more than an overstuffed harddrive.
