SPRING FORWARD

As I'm finally adjusting to the daylight savings change, post-vacation-stress-disorder and post-St Patty's Day brain fog, I'm realizing that this shining sun, however brief it may be, is certainly lifting my spirits.

Inspired by a fellow blogger and music lover, I thought I'd toss up my favorite songs for a sunny day. These are the songs I play at high volume, and with windows down. These are the songs that let me reminisce over those early warm spring days and bailing on 4th period Math in high school - just to hang at the marina. It was all for Vitamin D, I swear.

It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube
You can't not kick back and relax at this song. And bop a little. Or am I too old?

Love Sweet Love - Morcheeba
I love Morcheeba. They've been with me through almost a dozen seasons and it never gets old. The louder, the better. Their Fragments of Freedom gets tops honor with me. Also check out the song In The Hands of God with Biz Markie

Unbroken, Unshaven - The Budos Band
I generally can't handle long instrumental intros. I give a song about 30 seconds, tops. But before realizing this song has no lyrics, I was hooked. It seems to be a little 70's inspired and that's a good thing.

I Thought I Saw Your Face Today - She & Him
Smooth and easy, just like the perfect spring afternoon. Birds and bees... blooming trees and giggling kids at the park. This would be the score for that image.

These Are The Days - Jamie Cullum
You might think this is a lazy summer song, and it will likely get played through September, but the anticipation this song brings on an April sunny day is perfect. Its jazzy swingy lyrics are catchy.

Breaker, Breaker - Peter Bjorn and John
I can feel the beach party already. The intro reminds me of mai tais, luaus and surf sessions -- as if I've ever lived that life. But I can imagine through Hollywood imagery what it would be like.

Felicia - The Constellations
Top favorite. Seriously, can't stop loving this song. It makes me want to dance, regardless of when and where.

Rocketeer - Far East Movement
This is my wind hand-surfing song. All I can think about is the summer heat coming and the late nights and bonfires to follow. I sing it. Loud. By myself.

Whatever We Like - Iglu & Hartly
Another mover, I can't sit still for this song. It's a cold-brew, porch-sitting-with-friends jam. I feel like it could be in a well-orchestrated commercial for Coca Cola or the next iProduct.

Summer is just around the corner and I'm ready for it. Can you feel it?
