I LIKE PEOPLE

People are funny, aren't they? And cool. And frustrating. And shocking. And comforting.

I like people. I like talking and learning with them. I like that we come from same or varied backgrounds and perspectives. I like that we can be friends and learn from people older and younger than ourselves without being pigeon-holed with our peers. I like that I can have opposite-sex feedback and gain an otherwise intimate view into the male mind.

I like that I can disagree with people, even dislike them as a result of my personality and values. I like having the maturity and mindset to appreciate people for what they are and having the insight in my own being to know the difference between friend and foe.

As much as I reject vulnerability, I like people for stirring emotion and creating feeling. The good ones and the bad ones without which we'd never know the difference.

I like funny people who have little else to offer than a great joke. I like smart people who might bore you with knowledge if you weren't seeking it. I like charming people who seem to hold the world in their hands. And I even like the flaky people who teach me to be more steadfast and unwavering in my character.

We learn so much about ourselves in other people, why would anyone not desire this?

People are all around us, every moment, every day. We're bombarded with society at every turn, and with every technological gadget we are conditioned to lust after. As I interact with people in my job, in my community and on no less than a dozen social-networking platforms, I continue to learn and grow about the world we live in, and through the eyes of others.

I like people.
